Hi! I’m Melissa!

If you are here you probably love someone who is neurodivergent! My heart as a mom, former special educator and community advocate and Bible study facilitator is to tell you that you are not alone, you can make it through and God has a plan for you and your loved one!

Welcome to a place where you are understood and accepted and so is your child! Today, community is building and services are being improved, but it has taken a long time for the need to be seen and for parents and service providers to connect. Together we can make those issues even better!

If we look closely there is a thread that runs throughout each life. That thread is held by the hand of God and we can see it woven through the events and moments of our lives that point us to the fact that God has been with us all along. Nothing about this life surprises Him.

The thread is red. The red thread of the blood of Christ that points us to His hand in our past, our present and will continue with us into our future.
— Melissa Guinn

It all started in 2001 when our daughter was born and we faced years of navigating life with a child who needed extra support and, though I was not new to the Special Needs world, my husband and I struggled to find our way.

In an attempt to make sense of all that was happening our family dug deep into scripture, stayed connected to our church and began to seek out community among those around us who also faced similar struggles.

We continue in this journey as our daughter is now a young adult and we face new challenges, but also many successes.

“Melissa Guinn is truly remarkable; her knowledge, dedication, and experience have empowered our family to navigate countless situations with confidence. We are grateful for angels like her and Amazing Grace Advocacy for standing by us as our advocates.”

All families need to feel that they have a place where they belong. Community is essential for anyone, but especially for the families of children with disabilities.  For most families these disabilities are life changing and sometimes debilitating for the entire family unit. It is my desire to invite moms and families to “Come to the Table” where stories are shared and hope is given.

80% of families who have children with special needs are unchurched. Either families feel that there is no place to go or churches are not reaching them, and yet they feel hopeless and need community. This needs to change.

Let me hear from you!
